Well I’ve still not gotten it to work correctly with my Debian laptop, but my Ubuntu workstation at work and chrome 29 work together,…
I still wouldn’t recommend one though.
So, I got sucked in, and shouldn’t have… The chromecast doesn’t work with anything other than Youtube and a couple other items, you can’t stream your own movies or shows, or your own music.
So,. now I’m ordering an HDMI Stick PC,. that way I can run anything that my phone can run and will be able to stream whatever I want to my tv…
Best thing is it’s in stock and I will have it in a week.

Apparently if you aren’t a windows user you are screwed, who knew that Google would release a windows only device. So far after several hours of trying I’ve not been able to get the thing to work with anything useful
Avoid it and buy the Apple airplay and be happy as everything just works.
